Day 2 – Training For That Michelin Star

Today was my type of day. It was filled with good people, plenty of laughs, and yummy food and wine. Our day was centered around our pasta making class. I highly recommend this activity when traveling in general. It’s an intimate way to learn about the culture, while also giving yourself a larger repertoire of dishes you can make back home. For today’s lesson we made two different pasta dishes – ravioli and linguine.

Our day of being a chef started in Campo de’ Fiori, where we learned about some of the local ingredients and the history of Campo de’ Fiori. It was originally a field of flowers and a bustling market. While it’s still a market, it’s now more of a tourist attraction.

After walking through the market, we ventured to our cooking class. Our group was nine people, which felt like the perfect size. Upon arrival, they greeted us with a glass of Prosecco. Our cooking station was on the rooftop of a building where we had a view of the surrounding buildings.

In this class, we made the pasta from scratch, with the base ingredients just egg and flour. We rolled out our dough and then started making our raviolis, followed by making linguini.

After our cooking class, we went back to our Airbnb for a quick break before meeting up with a friend of Ryan’s that also happened to be in Rome at Museo e Galleria Borghese. We walked through the park grounds where there were tons of sculptures and artwork. It was just the chill activity I was looking for in the afternoon/evening. It also came with absolutely stunning views over Rome.

We then wandered for a bit to decide on a dinner option. For dinner I had a seafood risotto and bruschetta.
