The day before our flight, Ryan and I received a mysterious text from Norwegian Air saying, “due to operational reasons we need volunteers…that can travel on alternative flights.” Perhaps not the worst, but they were only willing to compensate up to 150 euros for volunteering to take another flight. This seems like a terrible incentive give our ticket was over 150 euros.
Next, we get a second message from Norwegian Air staying that our flight was to be operated by EuroAtlantic in a plane that was commissioned in 1979. After doing further research, we learned this eight hour flight had no inflight entertainment. Safe to say we were off to a solid start.

We arrived in Rome, excited to explore. We visited the Piazza Navona, a square built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian. It was built in the 1st century AD.

We did some more wandering and ventured to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. Between these four, I liked Trevi Fountain the most! It’s really amazing to have the opportunity to visit all these places I had only seen in textbooks.

After some wandering, we indulged in our first meal in Rome. Ryan had ravioli and I had a ragu pasta.

After dinner we went out for a couple drinks in Trastevere. We had a great time. Met some Canadians who were wearing matching outfits, got sandwiches and got to go behind the counter, and finished the night with some pizza.

Until next time…
